Michael Kors Mania!

For the past three years I have worked at the Bridgewater, NJ Michael Kors Lifestyle Boutique. I have really grown to love the brand and the affordable luxury their products embody. Whenever I see someone wearing Michael Kors it always makes me proud and I usually compliment them on whatever MK piece they are wearing. I get especially excited when I see celebrities rocking MK items. As you can see Ashley Tisdale and Whitney Port are fans of the brand.
The City star and fashion designer is wearing the Cheshire Sunglasses while running errands in NYC. The Cheshire's are a modern twist on a classic look and really define sthe "hipster" trend. Not to mention that the sunglasses are only $98! Ashley is sporting one of Michael's signature looks... the gold runway watch. I personally own this watch and adore it. The runway watch is such a (excuse the pun) timeless piece and I can easily dress it up from daytime work appropriate to night time play time.

Both of these items are available on the Michael Kors website and most Michael Kors Lifestyle Boutiques. If you are in the NJ area e-mail me at and we can schedule an appointment together to get you outfitted. Also come visit me in the Bridgewater Michael Kors to check out the latest MK fall collection or stop in your nearest lifestyle boutique.

Week One at Lucky Magazine

As I begin my summer I find my days filled with social media, publications and marketing more than bathing suits, beaches and lemonade. Although these activities are different than most summer activities I am finding my “alternative” summer to be quite a learning experience. My days begin at 9am at the epic Conde Nast building right in the heart of Time Square. Located across from Broadway and a few blocks from Fashion Ave; I am at the epicenter of trends and style. As I take the elevator up to the sixth floor I pass the editors from Vogue, Glamour, GQ and Allure, just to name a few of the timeless Conde Nast publications. Daily tasks at Lucky Magazine range a great deal. On my first day I found myself running all over New York City. Visiting different showrooms to return clothing samples and making my way to different public relation firms to pick up and drop off a variety of items. One of the stops along my was was the grand J. Crew building. Walking to the company’s downtown headquarters I began to think of a certain CNN interview I had seen, which also reminded me of my summer reading “ The Thank You Economy”. The author, Gary Vaynerchuk, insists on page 6 that in today’s business world a company does not need to implement traditional research techniques like test groups to see how consumers react to their product. Instead they should use platforms like social media to directly interact with their customers. Now to bring social media, J. Crew and the CNN interview full circle I will illustrate exactly what Vaynerchuk was talking about when referring to market research. The interview was with Jenna Lyons, the very successful creative director of J. Crew. When asked how J. Crew has built one of the strongest brand images in America and has more than tripled their sales in the past three years Lyon’s answer was simple: talking directly to the customers. Lyons explained that J.Crew no longer holds focus groups or conducts traditional market research but speaks DIRECTLY with the customer, brand user and consumer. Through customer interactions, relationship building and social media, companies such as J. Crew have begun to take part in the “Thank You Economy” and are thriving in it. So as I delivered the samples back to J.Crew I saw more than just clothing manufactured with no thought behind it; I saw a company taking steps to build a relationship with the customer through the exact sample I was holding in my hands. You may ask how does Lucky Magazine fit into all of this? The answer, like Mrs. Lyon’s answer is simple, this publication is the platform that J. Crew uses to show customers the correlation between what they want and what the brand is giving them. The customer asked for a slim fitting, dark rinse boyfriend jean that properly fits an hourglass figure, well here that exact jean is in the Lucky Magazine September issue denim guide. As an intern for Lucky I am only beginning to take part in “ The Thank You Economy” and I look forward to exploring Vaynerchuk’s concepts deeper in my real world experiences.

The Fashionably Ever After Internship

The season for summer internships has begun for many college students, including myself. I am lucky enough to be interning for the Conde Nast magazine "Lucky" ( sorry, the pun was too easy). As this blog will continue to document all the things that are inspiring me, it will also take a more academic turn. I will be blogging weekly about my daily tasks interning at Lucky Magazine and my summer job at Michael Kors. These posts will focus more on marketing, social media and my summer reading " The Thank You Economy" by Gary Vaynerchuk. You are all invited to join me on my adventures in New York City ,at Lucky and at Michael Kors. I can only hope that thse posts might be interesting and dare I say inspiring to others. The search to find meaning in my college studies and the best career path for me are both searches that many others will be embarking on this summer as well. I wish you the best of luck on all of your searches and invite you to follow me on mine.

Happy Spring!

I apologize for my lack of posts lately, I just got back from spring break in Punta Cana and I have been crazy busy with school. Over spring break I had an interview for another internship in NYC and I wanted to show what I wore. One of the hardest tasks for me is deciding what to wear to things like interviews and business casual events. Below is my first outfit post/ inspiration for interview attire.
Shoes: Michael Kors, Skirt: Aqua, Blazer: Aqua, Shirt: Michael Kors, Necklace: Forever 21

Everday chic

Sometimes it is much harder for me to get dressed for class, lunches and running errands then it is for a night out. Maybe it is because you have to find the perfect balance between casual comfort and not looking like something the cat dragged in. With many busy days of tests, dry cleaning visits and preparation for interviews and spring break ahead of me here are some of the looks I'm turning to for daily inspiration.

Oscar Aftermath

This year the Oscars did not disappoint in glamour! From Anne Hathaway's numerous costume changes to Natalie Portman's plum perfection pregnancy dress. All the blogs were abuzz with how gorgeous Mila Kunis looked and I have to agree. Mila was definitely my pick for Best Dressed of the night, her look translated from the runway to the red carpet effortlessly.

I was very curious this year to see who Rachel Zoe dressed for the Oscars. While nine months pregnant she still managed to dress Anne Hathaway for every costume change and the lovely ladies featured below for parties.
